Description:
Canthaxanthin exits naturally in birds, fish, fungi, algae and insects. It is a red carotenoid and widely used in the feed industry as an additive for offering red pigmentation. In additional to pigmentation function, canthaxanthin acts as an antioxidant like vitamins C and E, it helps to protect the body cells from the damaging effect of free radicals.
In the poultry industry, canthaxanthin is commonly added to laying hen feeds in order to achieve the desired egg yolk color. It is also used to intensify the broiler skin color. In the pigmentation of salmon and trout, canthaxanthin is added to deliver the desired flesh coloration.

USE
As a feed additive to intensify the pigmentation of egg yolk, broiler skin and fish flesh.
Dosage
Salmon and trout flesh pigmentation: Depending on the live weight, the recommended concentration range from 200 to 800 ppm product.
Broiler skin pigmentation: Depending on the desired coloration effect, broiler skin color can be intensified by adding up to 50 ppm product.
Egg yolk pigmentation: The required dosage for layer feeds should be adjusted in according to the natural yellow xanthophylls content in feedstuffs and the desired coloration effect.
